Proper storage and handling protect product quality and help reduce food-safety risks.

WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR ORDER

• Take products home promptly.
• Use an insulated cooler during warm weather or long trips.
• Place frozen products in the freezer as soon as possible.
• Place refrigerated products in a refrigerator maintained at 40°F or below.
• Check packages and contact us promptly if you notice damage or an unexpected problem.

FREEZER STORAGE

Keep frozen products at 0°F or below.

Organize and label your freezer so older products are used first. Avoid repeatedly thawing and refreezing products, as this may reduce quality.

SAFE THAWING METHODS

Refrigerator thawing is the preferred method.

  1. Place the package in a bowl or tray to contain possible leakage.
  2. Put it on the lowest refrigerator shelf, away from ready-to-eat foods.
  3. Allow enough time for it to thaw gradually.
  4. Keep the product refrigerated until use.

For faster thawing, keep the product in a sealed, leakproof package and place it in cold water. Change the water regularly so it remains cold. Use the product promptly after thawing.

Do not thaw raw meat or raw pet food on the kitchen counter, outdoors, in a warm vehicle, or in hot water.

AFTER THAWING

• Keep thawed products refrigerated.
• Open packages only when you are ready to use them.
• Use clean utensils and containers.
• Prevent raw juices from contacting other foods.
• Wash and sanitize hands, bowls, utensils, sinks, and preparation surfaces.
• Discard products that have been left at unsafe temperatures or show signs of spoilage.

RAW PET FOOD HANDLING

Treat raw pet food with the same care used for raw meat:

• Keep it separate from human food.
• Use dedicated containers and utensils when practical.
• Wash pet bowls after every feeding.
• Do not allow young children or vulnerable individuals to handle raw pet food.
